Highly anticipated by weird-rock lovers, this gig marks the return to active duty of Swans, one of the most formidably intense bands of the ’80s. A new Swans disc, My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky, marries the lurching bombast of the band's early work with the goth-folk atmospherics of frontman Michael Gira's later work in Angels of Light. Opening are idiosyncratic harpist and pianist Baby Dee, as well as noisy electric-guitar minimalist Ben Frost.
