If Virgin Forest's gorgeous, twangy sound puts you in mind of Phosphorescent, that's because it's the same band, minus frontman Matthew Houck. Phos pianist Scott Stapleton takes singing duties in Virgin Forest, and the group tends to mine darker territory (they do a great cover of Michael Gira's "My Sister Said.") Tonight the band celebrates a new album, Joy Atrophy.
