Brooklyn's Weird Owl has exactly one trick up its patchouli-scented sleeve: an enveloping, woozily trippy midtempo trudge. The rhythm section throbs, the guitars swirl, and singer Trevor Tyrrell issues soulful, high-pitched dispatches from the mind's eye. The band's next record is due out in early 2011.
