Each week, we take two New Yorkers who swear they're totally undateable, and put our matchmaking skills to the test. Afterward, we find out what went well on their date, and what went horribly, horribly wrong.

Why they're single:
Jas: She likes being single and thinks it’s fun.
A.J.: He enjoys being single, and he doesn’t know what he’s looking for.

Ideal date:
Jas: Whatever, as long as it ends with us running into the ocean in Tulum, Mexico, and then playing in the water as the moon shines
A.J.: Going to see Barbarella in a movie theater equipped with shag carpeting and then going out dancing

THE DATE

First impression
Jas: “He was super worried about where to put his massive backpack. He was, like, speechless because of it and overwhelmed. I was like, ‘Oh, hey, how are you?’ ”
A.J.: “I was talking to the host when she came up. We sat down and started talking, and then I checked my bag. The first thing I noticed was she had startlingly beautiful eyes.”

Chemistry
Jas: “We quickly realized we both were involved with film and had similar backgrounds and jobs, so at that point the conversation started flowing.”
A.J.: “It’s hard for me to tell if a girl is into me or not, especially with the extra metalayer in this situation. But there were moments when she touched my arm.”

Awkward Moment
Jas: “I was like, ‘Should I order the cheese board?’ and he was like, ‘Yeah!’ Then halfway through I realized he wasn’t eating any of it, and he was like, ‘Oh, yeah, I hate cheese.’ ”
A.J.: “We ordered a dessert with cocoa dust, and she kind of choked on it, and then I immediately started choking on my food, so we were simultaneously choking.”

Afterward
Jas: “We took the subway back together, and I convinced him that he should rethink disliking Trainwreck. He hugged me, gave me his number, and I texted him later.”
A.J.: “We took the Q back to Brooklyn. I gave her a hug goodbye, and we exchanged numbers. I wasn’t gonna kiss her in that harsh fluorescent train lighting.”

Verdict
Jas: ♥♥♥♥ “It was really fun. I would go on a second date. And we planned a wedding for the spring, so if I don’t marry myself by then, I’ll have that as a backup.”
A.J.: ♥♥♥♥♥ “We had a lot in common. I liked that she was sarcastic but also genuinely passionate about certain topics. Also, we’re getting married in the spring.”

Our daters went to Socarrat (212-462-1000, 259 W 19th St)
