You're gonna want to try this pumpkin pie hummus shake

'Tis the season of the great pumpkin invasion.

Once September hits, every food and drink item in Starbucks and Trader Joe's becomes laced with the ubiquitous "pumpkin spice," which tastes like the feeling of sitting by the fireplace and watching the leaves fall out the window. Now, a local mediterranean restaurant is getting in on the fall AF game.

All three Hummus & Pita Co. locations (Chelsea, Tribeca, Midtown West) are currently offering a new menu item called the Pumpkin Pie Hummus Shake. Similar to the restaurant's other hummus "milkshakes," the core ingredients remain chickpeas, tahini, banana, dates, and almond milk. However, this seasonal shake includes all-natural pumpkin puree, and the shop's own blend of pumpkin spice (ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves).

The result is a indulgently rich and thick shake that tastes like it's much less healthy than it actually is. Our small but mighty crew of Time Out tasters liked the sweetly spiced flavor, but wished it was a tinge more pumpkin-y. However, after the team cajoled more reluctant tasters ("It's good, we promise!"), everyone agreed: It was, in fact, really good. And as with the other variations, it's both vegan, gluten-free and only $5.

Hey, at least you're not drinking the latte.
