The dissident Russian director Dmitry Krymov, currently in exile for his anti-Putin sentiments, is known for his visually striking adaptations of classic texts. La MaMa plans to host two of them next season, and meanwhile it invites audiences to a pair of workshop productions presented in rep: Onegin (In Our Own Words), a comic take on Alexander Pushkin's 1833 verse novel, and The Americans, which blends Eugene O’Neill’s Desire Under the Elms with two short stories by Ernest Hemingway. (Proceeds from the performances on December 9–11 will benefit the Ukrainian charity group Cash for Refugees.)
