The Atmosphere of Memory

Good actors, including Ellen Burstyn and John Glover, are wasted in David Bar Katz's tale of a writer working on a self-indulgent memory play. But Bar Katz's play is hardly less contrived and schizophrenic than the imaginary one he lampoons. Scenes careen wildly from black humor to sappy melodrama and farce, with the dialogue holding steady at stilted.—Pamela Newton
