The Talls

A long-shanked family of emotionally clenched Catholics comes to grips with sexual initiation, repressed lesbianism and death in Anna Kerrigan’s wry, winsome domestic dramedy, set in 1970 Oakland. Staged by Carolyn Cantor with precise but easy-flowing realism, the play benefits greatly from its cast of youthful performers, including the magnetic Shannon Esper.—David Cote
