Filmmaker Chris Gentile's Self Discovery for Social Survival is not your ordinary surf film. It is a collaboration between a record label (Mexican Summer) and a surf shop (Pilgrim Surf + Supply) that subverts the relationship between music and visuals normally found within the genre, molding the two elements into one cohesive unit. The result is a surf fim unlike any other that may very well redefine the genre.
