They had us at "free." The Downtown Alliance teamed up with En Garde Arts and The Tank to set up Downtown Live, a free outdoor performing arts festival happening this weekend and next across unexpected locations all throughout lower Manhattan. The 36 in-person performances will be staged at a plaza with harbor views, for example, or a covered loading dock. That arcade along the Stone Street Historic District makes for a perfect performance space as well.
A whole roster of performers will take the stage, from a beaboxing extravaganza by Baba Israel and Grace Galu of Soul Inscribed to a new short play by Kaaron Briscoe. All cultural genres will be explored.
