World Science Festival

Shhh: Your kids might actually learn something while having fun at this educational celebration. Little Galileos can look skyward during a stargazing party led by professional astronomers (June 3); live music and snacks are provided. Or set sail for Governors Island, where scientists lead explorations revealing fun facts about New York’s local flora and fauna (June 4). The festivities wrap up with the World Science Festival Youth and Family Street Fair (June 5). The area surrounding Washington Square Park is transformed into a science wonderland, complete with interactive exhibits and experiments, performances by Central Park Zoo’s Wildlife Theater, critters from Dinosaur Train and an appearance by dancing mad scientist Jeffrey Vinokur, among other offerings.
