This month-long exhibition showcases a diverse blend of black and white art pieces by 10 artists from the Asia-Pacific region – Kheng Li Wee, Frederic Berger-Cardi, Yeo Shih Yun from Singapore; Natthawut Singthon, Ithipol Thangchalok from Thailand; Sato Kyoko, Sanpei Mitsuo from Japan; Mark Elliot-Ranken from Australia; Tran Van Thao from Vietnam' and Tian Mangzi from China. The works feature landscapes, figural studies and abstractions which are presented both symbolically and metaphorically on a palette of black and white, in a variety of media including oil, acrylic, watercolour and photography, to provide a fresh perspective on both composition and content to the viewer.
As part of the exhibition, the gallery will also be hosting a roundtable discussion and an exhibition walkabout led by one of the participating artists, Frederic Berger-Cardi, on 9 March at 4pm. This is the first of the gallery’s Open House series, which creates a platform for local artists to share perspectives on art.
