Our eyes look smaller as we age – here’s one way to reverse it

SKII, RNA eye cream

Okay, so our eyeballs themselves don’t shrink as we grow older – they only appear so thanks to sagging skin around the eyes. You could start hitting the sack earlier to reduce those effects, or, if makeup is your jam, perfect that Korean-inspired puppy eye to enlarge those peepers. Or you could hit up the nearest SK-II counter.

The Japanese beauty brand has just launched the R.N.A Power Eye Cream that purports to improve the lengthwise and crosswise firmness of skin around the eyes. The cream features two new ingredients that claim to increase wrinkle resilience, an upgrade from SK-II’s current anti-ageing Stempower Eye Cream.

RNA eye cream, SKII

SK-II attests that after six weeks of consistent use, the R.N.A Power Eye Cream will result in eyes that look 11 percent bigger with a 10 percent increase in lengthwise and crosswise firmness. Which, the brand hopes, will reverse the tide: according to research conducted by SK-II scientists, our eyes become 20 percent smaller over 15 years, beginning from our mid-20s.

The biggest cause of this shrinkage is the lack of firmness around the eyes that occurs naturally as we age. The three key areas around the eyes affected by ageing are the undereye area, eyelids and the corners of the eye. These regions all play a vital role in presenting youthful-looking skin. So if eyes are the windows to your soul and all that, why not keep ’em wide open?
