Set in the Gulf of Siam in 1931, a widow and her two teenage children live on the brink of poverty by growing crops in rice fields near the ocean. As their harvest gets flooded year after year, and corrupted bureaucrats stand in the way of their survival, the mother is pushed toward extreme actions after watching her children grow up and become independent from her.
