One’s a longstanding North Indian restaurant, located within the elegant Raffles Hotel. The other is a firm local favourite, serving up an authentic South Indian menu at Dempsey. Now, you can enjoy the best of both eateries in a limited-time collaboration – the Tiffin Room has teamed up with Samy’s Curry to present a curated menu that features signature dishes from each establishment.
Available from February 25 to March 10, the meal ($78) begins with well-loved starters from the Tiffin Room: prawn, cooked in a tandoor to impart a kiss of smoke; and basil-scented barramundi, or Tulsi Mahi Tikka. Then, tuck into a selection of signature dishes from Samy’s Curry. In keeping with tradition, slick curries come served in metal carriers that are ladled directly onto your plate. Mysore mutton, squid in black sauce, sambal prawns, fish curry, and chicken masala are just some spice-forward creations to look forward to. It might be tempting to ask for seconds, or even thirds, but you will want to save space for more to come. The next part of the meal presents more signatures from the Tiffin Room: lamb biryani, best enjoyed with scoops of scallop curry, and creamy Dal Makhani. It comes served alongside naan cooked with cheese, or scented with garlic. For a sweet end to the heady meal, tuck into the aromatic Rajbhog and some chocolate Jalebi. A vegetarian option ($68) is also available, complete with fried okra, brinjal curry, Subz biryani, and more.
