The date: our daters had a meal at Coastes

First impression

Emily: ‘I wasn’t nervous. We were both comfortable with each other, plus he has a nice smile.’

Zihao: ‘I was slightly nervous, but after we started talking, things got a lot better.’

Chemistry

Emily: ‘While I don’t know if we had a romantic spark, he’s a very pleasant guy.’

Zihao: ‘We chatted for about two hours. I see myself being friends with her, but romantically, not yet.’

Awkward moment

Emily: ‘Not that I recall. We could talk comfortably despite meeting for the first time.’

Zihao: ‘Probably only at the start, when we talked over each other once or twice. I blame my nerves!’

Afterwards

Emily: ‘He asked for my number, and we took the train down the same line for a couple of stops.’

Zihao: ‘I asked for her number and texted her later to make sure she’d gotten home safe.’

Verdict

Emily: ♥♥♥♥ ‘I’ll give it a four. I think we got along super well given it was a blind date, and we both had a great time.’

Zihao: ♥♥♥♥ ‘Five hearts because conversation flowed so easily. But there were no sparks, so the date gets a three. Overall, it’s a four.’

The atmosphere
‘The restaurant’s next to Siloso Beach, which I liked. Apart from a few inevitable mosquito bites, it was quiet and serene.’ – Zihao

The food
‘We shared both sets. My favourite was the duck and arugula pizza – the roast duck was juicy and perfectly done.’ – Zihao

The drinks
‘I had a Singapore Sling and mojito. Both were pretty decent with punchy flavours.’ – Emily
