The Lower Depths

Adapted from Russian playwright Maxim Gorky’s most influential work, Nine Years Theatre’s latest Mandarin production takes a look at the meaning of life through the lens of those on the lowest rungs of society. Some of them have given up on their lives, while others cling on to unrealistic dreams. Their hopes are reignited by the arrival of a strange old man. Can he save them from the rut?
