Besides the sociality of it, there are other perks too – including running tips from fellow racers, fitness training from experts, and even special discounts on running gear. The scene in Singapore is larger than you think, with many enthusiasts meeting up on the regular to pound the pavement in specific parks and neighbourhoods or all over the city. Ready to lace up your boots and clock some serious miles with fellow runners? Check out our list of the best running groups in town.

MacRitchie Runners 25

Cross-country runners who are dead serious about improving their run times and aerobic fitness only need to look to MacRitchie Runners 25 to get the training and motivation they need. It is one of the oldest running clubs in Singapore, founded way back in August 1976 by a doctor and avid runner Dr Siak Chong Leng. And it's pretty exclusive too – accepting only runners who have proven that they can run 5km in 25 minutes on a cross-country course in MacRitchie. They run regular Sunday runs at the reservoir, with progressive runs every other month and opportunities to join ultra-marathons. Nevertheless, the vibe remains close-knitted and supportive, so don't be intimidated.
