Time Out says

It's hard not to be fascinated by batik. The fabled cloth is more than just an accessory – there is so much to learn about the creation of batik, the craftsmanship behind it, the meaning of the motifs and patterns, how people wear it – and why as well. While there's no quick crash course to batik, this exhibition at the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) is a step into the right direction if you are interested.

Batik Kita: Dressing in Port Cities will take you into the world of batik, from its rich heritage and traditions roots to contemporary designs and how batik has evolved over the years. Come with an open mind – you'll soon find out that batik is shared and also different across cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Highlights of the exhibition include rare pieces – some from as early as 1900 (or even way back), a DIY batik workshop station and curator tours for those who wish to learn even more about batik. While you're there, don't miss out on checking out more than 100 pieces on display from overseas and local lenders, as well as many from ACM's National Collection.

Tickets to this exhibition are $12. Book here.
