Time Out says

Walking into a bar and ordering a beer? How about walking into one wearing a Heineken Silver?

In collaboration with The Shoe Surgeon, Heineken releases Heinekicks, its first pair of sneakers that, well, allows you to walk on beer. Shoe Surgeon Dominic Ciambrone – known for creating custom kicks donned by LeBron James and Drake – crafted these innovative kickers to tie in with the launch of Heineken Silver, the brewer’s easy-to-drink beer brewed for a new generation of drinkers.

“Partnering with Heineken for their new beer was a fun challenge. We both share a passion for innovation and pushing boundaries and created a design to reflect that,” said The Shoe Surgeon. “The shoe not only embodies the energy of Heineken Silver, but literally carries it. I can’t say I’ve ever designed a sneaker that contains actual beer before.’’

The Heinekicks has unique design elements to it – each pair features a sleek green lenticular upper with silver and red accents to match Heineken Silver’s signature colourway. A removable metal bottle opener is also built into the tongue of the shoe, a great feature when it’s time to get cracking with your friends. The sneakers also contain actual beer in them. The duo used a specialised surgical injection method to inject Heineken Silver into the soles.

A total of 32 pairs of Heinekicks are created, but only seven will be dropping in Singapore later this year. The inaugural pair is on display at the Limited Edition Vault at 313@Somerset from August 11 to 24, as part of the Project Future event organised by Culture Cartel x 2MR Labs.
