Time Out says

This latest exhibition by MUJI will delight minimalist fans out there. Named A walk in the forest of verbs with MUJI IS, the showcase first held itself in Japan before landing on our shores at Japan Creative Centre (JCC) at Tanglin. The exhibition is based on the MUJI IS book released on the brand’s 40th anniversary in 2020.

Out of the 7,000 products MUJI produced, only 460 items made it to the book. The product archives are displayed according to the motives behind each product’s development, which is categorised by 15 key verbs. Take a peek at MUJI products that have been made over the past 40 years displayed along with their verb categories like Totonoeru (organise) and Ikasu (utilise).

Gain insight into the journey of MUJI’s design ethos as you explore the forest-inspired exhibition. One of the products is MUJI's Markable Umbrella which has a hole in the handle so you can add personalisation details like a name tag to it. Inspired by a foreign designer, the umbrella is classified under the verb “notice.” The designer explained that Japanese people usually attached markers like handkerchiefs and rubber bands to their umbrellas to identify them with ease.

“In this exhibition, we invite you to take a walk into the forest of MUJI verbs selected from the MUJI IS book, each related to our products and activities that were developed in the last four decades,” wrote MUJI. The exhibition also offers photo-taking moments as you walk through the MUJI-style “trees.”
