The circuit breaker is well underway, and we've lost count of the number of days we've been cooped up indoors at this point. But nonetheless, well done at staying in and saving lives. Since this new norm could last for weeks, let's shake up the daily mundane routine with something new from our 56-day plan to get through the circuit breaker.

Alternatively, you can make the most of the extra hours by learning something new from online classes. Most of these classes are free too. Practising a new creative skill like watercolour painting or picking up a cool hobby like playing the guitar is also great at keeping you entertained, distracted, and equipped if you're looking to start a potential side hustle. Plus, your new skills will impress just about anyone – including your mum.

Language

Duolingo

Learning a new language is always fun, but it does take a while to master the art of replying in complete sentences – verbally.  The user-friendly app allows you to pick up a language like Arabic, Japanese, German, and Swahili, at a casual pace of five minutes or at an intensive session of 20 minutes a day. There's a lot of visual cues, as well as great vocab tests to help you learn on the go, moving from the bedroom to the living room. Hopefully, by the end of four weeks, you'll be able to speak Klingon, High Valyrian, and  (yes, they're available on the app too).

Get started by downloading the free app at duolingo.com.
