Time Out says

The city is alive with the sound of live music again, and we think it’s not too early to plan your musical calendar for next year. VCHpresents, a music series by the Singapore Symphony, has got a lovely chamber music series already lined up from January to June 2023. Held at the Victoria Concert Hall, these are intimate events that give you a rare chance to get close to international and local musicians.

The first half of the 2022/23 musical season was brimming with top talent, and we were utterly charmed by VCHpresents Baroque Festival: The Aroma of Music, which comprised on an entertaining performance of Bach’s celebrated Coffee Cantata brought to life by talents from The Opera People, soprano Joyce Lee Tung, tenor David Charles Tay and bass Martin Ng. Renowned Baroque specialist Peter Hanson was also present at the show, leading the violin troupe in a lively performance of Handel's beloved Water Music.

Expect more diverse programming spanning jazz, classical, and even family-friendly performances – so there’s something for everyone. Tune into Time Remembered – Bill Evans (January 8), a stirring homage to the great jazz pianist performed by the Thomas Clausen Trio. Classical lovers are in for a treat too, with Schubert’s Piano Sonatas with Paul Lewis (February 18) followed by two performances by the Schumann Quartet, accompanied by Singapore Symphony musicians (May 10 and 11).

Children and families will also thoroughly enjoy The Composer and the Mouse, a fun and unique blend of classical music and film. Watch the children’s classic The Carnival of Animals and Tom Scott creation The Composer and the Mouse play on-screen. The lively animation will be paired with original organ and piano music performed by the Scott Brothers Duo (June 17).

And if you’re looking for a concert with Mandarin content, then don’t miss out on The Tales of Yu Jing, an intimate performance by SSO Associate Principal Cellist Yu Jing, who will be bringing three light-hearted stories to life with music arranged by her husband Jin Ta, Principal Flute of the SSO (March 15 and 16).
