Celebrating its 10th anniversary by paying homage to Fujifilm’s disposable film cameras, Beams Japan also drops a line-up of apparel and a retro camera case

In a serendipitous coincidence, Japan’s ubiquitous ‘Utsurun-desu’ disposable cameras (known as Quicksnap overseas) are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, while Beams marks a decade since the establishment of Beams Japan, its curated Japan-focused select shop brand. The timing couldn’t be more fitting, as more people than ever are returning to film photography amid growing fatigue with the overly sharpened and HDR-heavy look of smartphone images.
Fujifilm’s legendary sub-brand is teaming up with Beams Japan to deliver a nostalgic yet refreshingly modern take on the tried-and-true disposable camera, accompanied by a range of merchandise featuring Fujifilm’s iconic green and Beams Japan’s signature daidai orange colourways. These make for the perfect Japan souvenirs for fashionable Beams fans and camera gearheads alike.
The collection includes a camera and a custom-made orange silicone cover (¥8,800), designed as an homage to the original Utsurun-desu cameras released in the mid-1980s. Also included are original accessories such as logo caps (¥7,480), camera straps with braided cords (¥2,750), two-way bags (¥7,920), and a collaborative Utsurun-desu photo album.
The collaboration merchandise is now available for purchase at physical Beams Japan stores and the official Beams Japan online shop. To coincide with the launch, photographs taken with Utsurun-desu cameras by Beams Japan staff from 12 stores nationwide will be displayed at the Beams Japan Shinjuku storefront.
