Earlier this month, Spanish designer label Loewe released an exclusive Totoro-themed collection. This limited-edition line of adorable designer bags and T-shirts features one of Studio Ghibli’s most iconic stars from the hit anime ‘My Neighbor Totoro’.
Now, Italian luxury brand Gucci is following suit with a capsule collection celebrating the world-famous Japanese character Doraemon.
This special series features the iconic blue cat-robot plastered all over the brand’s classic GG pattern on wallets, purses and suitcases. You’ll also find apparel including colourful hoodies and T-shirts with a smiling Doraemon propped in front of a massive Gucci logo, as well as accessories, phone cases and scarves. While these items may have a nostalgic appeal, they are rather forward thinking in that the materials are completely recyclable and your purchase will come in sustainable packaging.
The Doraemon x Gucci collection is now available online, or you can shop in stores starting January 20. There’s also a special pop-up store inside Isetan Shinjuku and Hankyu Umeda (in Osaka) for a limited time.
