Nagasaki Biopark is a zoo and botanical garden where visitors can get up close – and sometimes even interact – with its tame resident animals. The park’s capybaras, especially, has become an internet sensation as they are often seen chilling in a rotenburo (open air bath) in the cold winter months. These days, the giant friendly rodents have yet again caused another frenzy with cute ASMR videos of them enjoying different types of vegetables and fruit, such as watermelon and cucumber in summer, and persimmon and chestnuts in autumn.

The most engaging video in Nagasaki Biopark’s collection features a herd of more than ten furry capybaras scarfing down a 50kg pumpkin with their large front teeth in a matter of minutes. What makes this video particularly captivating is the ASMR sound of chewing, munching and chomping. Sounds delicious!

Recently, the park even released a video of the furry rodents celebrating an early Halloween feast with a jack-o'-lantern pumpkin.

If you prefer to visit Nagasaki Biopark in person, you’ll be glad to know that you can enter the capybaras’ enclosure and engage with them – pet them, take photos of their cute antics or just lay back and watch them eat during feeding time.
