Art spaces and galleries seem to be popping up every month all over Bangkok, providing a space and temporary home for inspiring exhibitions and art shows that you can check out over the weekend (or during weekdays if you want to steer clear of the crowds).

While the art itself is always the star of the show, we also appreciate the venues that play host to these amazing pieces. These following venues are the latest newcomers in Bangkok’s art scene, and each one has been conceptualized to create a memorable art viewing experience.

This new space in Ploenchit is owned by fine art printmaker “Kit” Chirachaisakul, who wanted to come up with a space where you can “disappear with art”. The building itself, with its all-white facade and sleek angles, is visually stunning. Inside, the space features hallways that you can follow, making it a bit easier to appreciate an exhibition.

KICH does not limit itself to displaying a certain discipline or style—as long as it can provide a place where any artist can showcase his or her vision.

Bangkok-based art agency Mighty Creative One has launched their own eponymous gallery on Soi Sukhumvit 61, which focuses on art inspired by urban culture. Since it opened, it has exhibited Buddhist-inspired art with a punk twist, and graffiti art that celebrates the legalization of cannabis in Thailand.

On Soi Wat Mahannapharam 1 (near the Tiger God Shrine), stands a house that can be traced back to the era of King Rama V. It was abandoned for a long time but was recently revived as a café and community space for art enthusiasts called Payaq. It’s meant to be a haven where creative people can come and relax as if they’re visiting their art-loving friends at home. What’s not to love when you can pop by, see some cool art, relax with a drink at the bar, and exchange views with like-minded people?

The first international outpost of Hongdae-based gallery group Placemak is a collaborative  project with Thai artist and Rebel Art Space director Wannaporn “Sai” Chimbanjong. Placemak Bkk, located in Phrakanong, is aimed at promoting the boundless potential of Thai artists, as well as provide them with a platform where they can exchange their culture and vision with Korean and other international talents.

Initially meant to be a place for storing the pieces of artists Atit Sornsongkram and Prae Pupityastaporn, this reimagined space on Rattanakosin Island features a high ceiling, wide exhibition areas, and monochromatic and minimalist aesthetics. Apart from hosting an ever-changing line-up of exhibitions by both local and international artists, Storage also holds discussions, events, and art-related projects.
