Goldsmith Bar teams up with Peddlers Gin for a short Chinese New Year menu that leans symbolic without any gimmicks. Blossom and Fortune is perhaps the most memorable – salted plum gin and Strega finished with a strip of torched bak kwa that perfumes the glass before the first sip.
Lucky Ang Pao takes its colour from the red envelope, mixing Shanghai gin with longan saccharum and rice notes for a floral aperitivo feel, while Peddlers and Prosperity keeps it clean as a highball with tonic and fresh mandarin. If the night turns hungry, David Thompson’s Chop Chop Cookshop downstairs is dishing out its famous roast duck.
