This weekend in Bangkok is probably bigger than ever with the return of the King's Cup Elephant Polo at the riverside pitch next to Anantara Riverside Resort. First launched in Hua Hin back in 2001 by Minor Group, the Elephant Polo charitable tournament has raised more than 46 million baht to support support a number of elephant-related initiatives around Thailand.

A total of 30 unemployed former street elephants will take part in this year’s festival during which they will be given full veterinary checks and care, much-needed food and drink and essential vitamin supplements for the duration of the event.

The event is open to the public. Entry fee is B200. Until Sunday, 11 March. More information at www.anantaraelephantpolo.com
