Wat Pho Thai Traditional Medical and Massage School

Wat Pho Thai Traditional Medical and Massage School

Aside from being one of the most sacred places of worship in Bangkok, Wat Pho (home to the famed Reclining Buddha) also houses one of the oldest Thai massage institutions in the country.

The various techniques and disciplines of Thai massage have been taught here for over a century (you can still see inscriptions of crucial pressure points on the temple’s walls) but the formal school only opened in 1955. The bonus: prices for a massage are incredibly pocket-friendly—a 60-minute massage is about B300.
