Shocking news for Bangkok’s nightlife scene. One of the most popular cocktail bars is saying its final goodbye.

“As you all may know, the COVID-19 situation has been continuing. It’s not easy for us to quit this way. Unfortunately, it's time to say goodbye and close our curtains,” a post announced on Backstage Cocktail Bar’s official Facebook page.

The bar first opened in March 2016. Behind it was a group of talented bartenders—Anakin “Ton” Wongsala, Chennarong “Janz” Bhumichitr, Kitibordee “Gov” Chortubtim, Ronnaporn “Neung” Kanivichaporn, Supawit “Palm” Muttarattana, and Watcharapong “Bank” Suriyaphan. Within a brief period, the bar quickly shot to drinking stardom, thanks to creative cocktails and a unique ambience inspired by famous stage plays.

Backstage also thanked their past patrons, who supported them throughout more than half a decade in the biz.
