Bangkok shuts multiple venues from today due to the new phase of coronavirus outbreaks

Due to the second wave of coronavirus outbreaks in the country, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), on Friday, Jan 1, announced a temporary closure of high-risk areas and venues across the capital. These venues are:

  • Nightclubs and bars
  • Waterparks, themed parks
  • Kids playgrounds
  • Snooker and pool clubs
  • Game arcades
  • Game and internet cafes
  • Cockfight clubs
  • Daycare centers
  • Boxing rings and stadiums
  • Martial art schools 
  • Horse racing stadiums
  • Public baths
  • Sports racing venues
  • Fish- and bullfighting venues
  • Amulet centers
  • Pre-school venues
  • Beauty clinics and tattoo services
  • Gyms and fitness centers
  • Spa, Thai massage venues
  • Boxing schools
  • Bowling alleys, roller- and ice-skating rinks
  • Dancesport venues
  • Schools and educational institutes.

The temporary closure will start from today (Saturday, Jan 2) until further notice. 

Shopping centers, restaurants, hair salons, convention centers, meeting rooms, hotel meeting rooms, public parks, swimming pools, nursing homes, movie theaters, and zoos can remain open under strict rules.  

BMA also urges everyone to always wear surgical masks and wash hands often when going outdoors.
