Ready to lose yourself in a good book? The 30th National Book Fair, also known as Book Expo Thailand 2025, is about to hit all the right notes with its ‘Melody of Books’ theme and the concept, ‘Have you read yet? Are you listening?’

From October 9-19, the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center will transform into a world of stories, where every visitor becomes both an avid reader and an active listener.

This grand concert of letters brings together hundreds of titles and publishers big and small, packing in enough bookish energy to keep even casual readers flipping pages well past midnight. Thai book lovers can look forward to mountains of discounted reads across every genre imaginable. Global bookworm won’t feel left out. There will be stalls with English-language titles and books in other languages too.

Remember that old line about Thais reading only eight lines a year? Forget it. That myth’s been shelved. Recent surveys by PUBAT (Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand) and Chulalongkorn University show Thais are clocking in at 113 minutes of reading a day. That’s nearly two hours, whether on paper, screen or audiobook. This shift suggests that far from fading, the culture of reading in Thailand is quietly thriving, even if the formats and preferences have changed.

So this is why the fair matters – especially for Bangkokians who could use a little pause button, an excuse to read more and escape from the city’s daily chaos.

It’s your chance to update your new book to the self, queue up to have your favourite authors scribble in your copy or kick back and listen to talks by writers and Thai thought leaders who know how to make words sing.

Catch the full list of booths and participating publishers here.

Halls 5–7, LG Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. October 9-19. 10am-9pm.
