Due to the latest clusters of positive-COVID-19 cases during the last weekend, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has finally ordered drinking and entertainment venues in three Bangkok districts—Wattana, Khlong Toei and Bang Khae—to close temporarily for two weeks during April 6-19.

Recently, it was reported that 118 cases of COVID-19 infected individuals were found within the past three days from the government's active case finding measure in the area of Thonglor, a popular neighborhood in Wattana District. Khlong Toei and Bang Khae are also the other two areas where the outbreak resurfaced.

Accordingly, the authority has requested all sorts of entertainment venues, including pubs, bars, bathhouses and karaoke lounges in Wattana, Klong Toei, Bang Khae because they deemed these venues as the sources of the latest clusters. The order is in effect today (April 6) until April 19.

Yesterday, Bangkok was once again labelled as a red-zone area, causing the alcohol ban to return in restaurants and bars across the town as well as the limited opening hours to only 21:00. Read more here.
