Calling all plant parents, BTS riders and anyone who wants to give Bangkok a breather – this one’s for you.  On September 5, BTS is celebrating International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies by handing out 4,500 free air-purifying plants across four stations: Phrom Phong (E5), Siam (CEN), Ha Yaek Lat Phrao (N9), and Wat Phra Sri Mahathat (N17).

This leafy giveaway also marks a huge milestone: 4,500 million journeys over 26 years, covering 157 million kilometers since the first ride back in 1999. In that time, all those train trips have helped cut 2.38 million tons of CO₂ emissions – the same as planting 250 million trees. That simply means every time you ditch the car and hop on the skytrain, you’re a climate hero.

Now you get to bring a little slice of that eco-win home. The plant squad features over 20 air-purifying species like snake plant, money spoon, Udom Sap, Xanadu, Guan Im and more. Plus, Turtle Café is joining the fun by giving away used coffee grounds (the ones from your daily lattes). Turns out coffee waste makes an organic fertilizer that helps plants bulk up and keeps annoying bugs away.

This campaign is BTS’s way of reminding us that greener living doesn’t have to be complicated – sometimes it’s as easy as grabbing a plant and reusing yesterday’s coffee. A dash of green here, a lungful of fresh air there and suddenly the daily commute feels wholesome.

The plant party happens from 12pm–2pm (or until stocks run out). No pre-reg, no hassle. Just show up, flash a smile and walk away with your new leafy roommate. One plant per person, so choose wisely.
