Don't forget to BYOB or bring your own bags the next time you shop at Central stores! Central’s retail group has always been one of Bangkok’s forerunners in pursuing environmentally-conscious actions that can impact society. The retail group is taking another step towards a greener future for Bangkok with the launch of their environmentally-friendly campaign Central Love the Earth ‘Say No to Plastic Bags’. Starting from 5 June onwards, Central’s retail stores will no longer be distributing plastic bags to customers and instead asks customers to bring their own reusable bags when shopping.

This campaign will apply to all stores except Tops Supermarket and Central Food Hall. However, customers who refuse plastic bags will be able to earn additional points on their The One account. The group has set a goal to reduce the use of plastic bags by around 150 million bags by the end of this year. Thailand is ranked amongst the top ten contributors to ocean waste, contributing approximately three percent of the 1.03 million tons of plastic that find its way into the ocean every year. It’s definitely time for a serious change and Central is helping pave the way.
