Last night at around midnight of June 27, The Royal Gazette published a new PM-signed announcement detailing a new series of COVID-19 restrictions to be imposed in Bangkok and eight other high-risk provinces to curb uncontrolled infections. Yes, you can guess, dine-in restrictions are returning to the capital.

Stated in the document were new ten restrictions that would be in effect from June 27 until at least July 28, and four of the following are exclusively entitled to Bangkok Metropolitan Region:

  • Restaurants are allowed to provide only delivery and takeaway services.
  • Shopping malls and centers can open until as late as 21:00.
  • Hotels and convention halls can open as usual, but no mass gathering activity is allowed.
  • Social gatherings are permitted to those with up to 20 participants, and the host ought to ask for official permission from the authorities.

There is also a stricter screening for anyone traveling in and out of the areas. The individuals must show proof of evidence like National ID or any related important documents. Also, all of the construction sites where the current outbreaks have been detected are now ordered to shut down for at least a month as well.

As of June 26, Thailand's infection number is at 211,589 cases, with 1,776 death cases. Meanwhile, there are almost nine million individuals already receiving the COVID-19 vaccines.
