It might not be much of a stretch to say you can find something to satisfy your hunger on nearly every street corner in Bangkok. Still, reaching the city’s top food spots isn’t always easy – especially for those living farther out. That’s why delivery services have become part of daily life across the country. However, there’s sad news for fans of Foodpanda, as the app will shut down after years of service in Thailand.
On April 23, Foodpanda Thailand announced that it will close its platform along with its food and grocery delivery operations, with the last day of service being May 23. The post explained the brand’s decision to leave the country, stating that current market dynamics no longer support their long-term business strategy.
Foodpanda was born in Singapore in 2012 and quickly expanded its operations to numerous countries across Asia. It arrived in Thailand that same year and, over time, grew its services to cover all 77 provinces in the country.
However, despite its long presence, the brand has faced tough competition in the Thai market from players like Lineman, GrabFood, and Robinhood. In 2024, its parent company, Delivery Hero, attempted to sell part of its Southeast Asian business but was unable to reach a deal.
