After being forced to push back the entire event due to the coronavirus outbreak, Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 is now all prepped up and ready to take off, well, in a different practice: without any cheering crowds at the venues.

Despite taking place without on-site spectators, the biggest highlight of the summer sports event people are waiting for is the opening ceremony that is set to take place at the Kengo Kuma-design new Japan National Stadium in Tokyo at 18:00 (local time in Bangkok).

For people in Thailand, you can enjoy the much-awaited manga-loaded opening ceremony of Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 through these channels:

  • AIS Play
  • NBT2HD
  • ThaiPBS (3)
  • JKN18
  • True4U (24)
  • GMM25
  • PPTVHD 36
  • TSports Channel

Some territories can also get free access to the live streaming of the ceremony via the official website of the Olympics here.

Sports-wise, exciting stuff to look forward to this year is plenty! This year's edition will introduce five new sports to the event: sport climbing, surfing, skateboarding, karate, and baseball/softball—the last of which makes a return to the event after taken off the list in 2008.

Another thing for the sports lovers in Thailand to be hyped for is rooting for all Thai athletes to snatch the medals. In 2021 (aka the 2020 edition, just for the clarification), there are a total number of 11,000 competitors from 206 countries who will compete with one another in 33 sports across 339 matches. From Thailand, there are 41 athletes who make it to Tokyo this year, and they will be competing in 14 different sports, including:

  • Athletics
  • Badminton
  • Boxing
  • Canoeing
  • Cycling
  • Equestrian
  • Golf
  • Judo
  • Rowing
  • Sailing
  • Shooting
  • Swimming
  • Table Tennis
  • Taekwondo
