Learn more about the rich history and close diplomatic relationship between France and Thailand in an outdoor art exhibition at the Embassy of France on Soi Charoenkrung 36.

The art-on-the-wall project saw its beginnings in September 2021, in collaboration with Robert Bougrain of Restaurateurs sans Frontières, who recruited talented students from the Poh Chang Academy of Arts to create original artwork that symbolize the friendly and long-standing relations between the two countries.

The result is a catalog of about 30 captivating paintings that portray some of France’s most recognizable landmarks, but given a Thai twist. Highlights include Les bancs publics (Public Benches), which draws inspiration from Georges Brassens’s 1953 classic song “Les amoureux des bancs publics”. The painting conveys how two different individuals—like a Thai man and a French lady—can enjoy a fulfilling exchange on a public bench.

Les troupes siamoises sous l’Arc de triomphe (The Siamese Troops Under Arc de Triomphe) is another interesting piece that depicts Siamese warriors marching under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris—a symbol of Thailand’s participation in World War I.

In Variations thaïlandaises autour des pyramides du Louvre (Thai Variations Around the Louvre Pyramids), the artist reimagines the iconic pyramid structure at the Louvre Museum, embellishing its glass sides with Thai themes such as the image of the Buddha.
