After talks, arguments and more talks, the last crop of families has already moved out of the Mahakan Fort Area, allowing the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to convert what was once a dense residential area into a public park.
The attempt to turn one of Bangkok’s oldest communities into a park first started decades ago, long before many of us were even born, so it’s hard to judge if the initiative is right or wrong. The only thing we can do is to respect the struggle that went into building the park and value it once it’s completed.
