June is finally here. And if you’re familiar with Bangkok, then you know that the spirit of Pride is very much alive in the city, and that its rainbow-colored flag is soaring high in many places around town this Pride Month.

Rainbows are particularly a favorite at Siam Center, the Ideopolis “hub of boundless imagination and creativity” that does not hold back when it comes to embracing diversity, equality, inclusion and the LGBTQ+ community.

This year, the lifestyle venue is launching The World of Freedom and Pride 2023 campaign in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). A line-up of exciting activities are set to take over creative space The Ideopolis the entire month, each one promoting and championing Siam Center’s strong commitment to “championing diversity, equality, and inclusion for all”.

Kicking off the campaign is the highly anticipated Bangkok Pride Parade 2023 on 4 June. Led by non-profit organization Naruemit Pride, the parade will commence at the Pathumwan intersection, just a few minutes walk from Siam Center, and will march on to the Ratchaprasong intersection.

Following the theme of “Beyond Gender”, the parade will comprise six sub-sections, each one representing a color on the Pride flag, and advocating for equal rights, freedom, and fundamental human dignity.

After the parade, make your way back to Siam Center for Pride Music, a mini-concert that will feature live performances by Proxie, BNK48, and drag artists from Drag Race Thailand.

While you’re here, why not check out Color Your Pride, a beauty bar that grants you the chance to discover your own concept of beauty through makeup products from popular brands. Simply show the ONESIAM APP to get free access to the bar!

Art has always been a vehicle for manifesting one’s pride and Siam Center has always provided a space for displaying inspirational art. To help amplify its claim as a DiversCity building, the creative hub has asked local artists to deck up the entire mall with rainbows and colorful art all around. Keep an eye out for I Wanna Be a Dinosaur, a project in collaboration with respected street artist MRKREME, who wants to reflect the “perspective of young individuals seeking role models or figures to admire.”

More art will be displayed throughout June, such as Curious Moment Sculpture Pride Collection 2023, where each piece highlights an attempt to break away from the traditional boundaries of gender, and Modernform x MM Market: Love Attraction Chair, where a simple invention like a chair is used to explore diversity in love and sexual orientation. There’s also Born to be Rainbow by Poriin, which pays tribute to Pride through toy arts installation.

Siam Center will also play host to Freedom & Pride Talk, an event organized by Thailand Policy Lab, UNDP, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The discussions at this inspiring event (3 June from 14:00 to 16:00; Atrium 2) will tackle a variety of issues surrounding the LGBTQ+ community and the modern forms of family.

To complement this talk, the lifestyle hub will launch Diversity Bliss: The Family I Love and Belong, an exhibition to raise awareness about the “various types of families and the rights of individuals of all genders.” The exhibition will run from 26 to 30 June.

It’s just been announced that Bangkok will be hosting World Pride 2028! To celebrate this honor, Siam Center will be transforming Atrium 2 (10 and 11 June) into a convention space where the LGBTQ+ community can showcase their art, music, and fashion while participating in talks, stage performances, and entertainment as well as experience the captivating exhibition showcasing exceptional artworks created by talented rainbow artists who took part in the contest as part of the "Road to Bangkok World Pride 2028" campaign. This exhibition serves as a celebration of Pride Month, demonstrating the city's preparedness to host World Pride 2028. The exhibition will be located on the 1st floor and will be available for viewing throughout the month of June.

You can also look forward to seeing live performances by GMM Grammy’s artists and Boys Love actors from YMOMENT at the Pride weekend space. Profess your love for these artists and show off your Pride at the DIY T-shirt workshop at the same area and find exceptional Pride Collections offered by leading brands.

Siam Center is also giving out B100 coupons for every purchase of B1,000. These can be used at participating restaurants throughout June.
