Apart from Rocket Coffeebar, the Scandi food scene in Bangkok isn’t much to speak of, but that will soon change this year with the coming of a new restaurant under the Frantzén group.

The Frantzén group is home to the eponymous Nordic restaurant by Chef Björn Frantzén that was originally founded in Stockholm in 2008 focusing on creative Nordic cuisine with an Asian. It received its first Michelin star after only one year after the grand opening, and is now a holder of three stars and the sixth spot on World's 50 Best Restaurants.

Later in 2022, Chef Björn's empire is slated to set foot in Bangkok with a new restaurant named Villa Frantzén. The speculations emerged after a Facebook page under the same name was launched, hinting at the arrival of the world-renowned establishment. The page also hints that it may be somewhere in Chong Nonsi.

Further information reveals that Villa Frantzén, expansive at 600 square meters, will be stylized as a 60-seat venue and three private dining areas, with an open kitchen set-up.  Unlike Restaurant Frantzen in Stockholm and Frantzen Kitchen in Hongkong, the Bangkok outlet will have a more casual ambience and different concept but still serving a set menu that guests can order from a selection of dishes. The restaurant will also have a space dedicated to a Nordic-inspired bar.

Stay tuned for more updates.
