Bangkokians will finally get to see Siam Square’s newly-revamped Lido cinema later this month. The cinema, which closed down in July of 2018 after operating for more than 50 years, will be coming back as “Lido Connect” with the grand opening set for 30 July and a soft opening on 13 July. The space has been undergoing major renovations for the past year courtesy of Loveis Entertainment and the Property Management of Chulalongkorn University in hopes of creating a “co-cultural” space, a place where live performances, art exhibitions, fashion and technology showcases are supported. “The Opportunity Space Project”, like the name states, is a project in which Lido Connect is creating to give opportunities to talented artists, musicians, filmmakers, dancer, photographers, fashion designers and more to be able to exhibit or perform their talents free of charge. To apply, Check out Lido Connect.

The building will consist of a cinema, two halls for talks and performances, and multifunctional space. The design is inspired by the original old-school theatre with modern aspects scattered here and there. Neon lights will be featured throughout the space to create a true 80’s vibe.

With the latest craze of throwback trends, Lido Connect is guaranteed to be a popular hangout amongst all the cool kids and creative minds in Bangkok.
