I got my first tattoo at 14. It was the letter “S” for my name. It was pretty silly. I was a reckless kid, also got piercings on my lips, eyebrows and nose. The second one is a Chinese symbol. It’s kind of cheesy—old-school, ’90s-mainstream, Pamela Anderson-style. I don’t know why I got this wire around my upper arm, but it’s supposed to have a rose connected to it. I know a lot of people need meanings attached to their tattoos, but I consider my body to be a canvas. Each tattoo I have reflects my respect for the artist’s work and style. I trust them so I let them have the freedom to create what they want. So, all of these designs are original works of the artists— sometimes it turns out to be something I didn’t expect. I have a tattoo from a South African artist named Nicholas Mudskipper—he does tropical, Sailor Jerry-style tattoos—but I got the majority of my tattoos at Black Pig Tattoo Studio above my bar. I think I could be like a gallery and I just put artworks on my body. I’m just a collector of works by tattoo artists.
