The UK government recently updated its “red list”, and has bumped off Thailand and 46 other countries from its latest COVID travel ban register. This update was released on 7 October and will go into effect on 11 October. Countries such as Mexico, South Africa and Brazil are also off the list.

Back in late August, Thailand was unfortunately flagged as a high-risk COVID-19 country by the UK. This meant that those entering the European country from our shores were required to undergo an 11-night hotel quarantine that would have one adult paying about more than £2,000 or over B100,000.

There are about seven countries still on this red list, though, including Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

According to the BBC, the UK authorities have also announced a plan to do away with the requirement for a costly RT-PCR test two days after arrival with a photo of a negative lateral flow test.
