The Tourism Authority of Thailand has reported that the county will continue reopening more cities to foreign tourists who have been fully vaccinated from October 1. The destinations to get the green light this time include Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Phetchaburi, and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

According to TAT Newsroom, government spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana confirmed that the kingdom would move forward into the "second phase of Thailand's reopening timeline". The upcoming launch is set to support pending tourism-reviving schemes, such as Bangkok Sandbox, Hua Hin Recharge, and Charming Chiang Mai.

What's more, the authorities have planned to promote domestic travel with two campaigns—Tour Thiao Thai and We Travel Together and—the latter of which is the subsidy program that grants domestic travelers with financial help to pay for accommodation or air travel.

Mid-October will also see more reopenings for other 21 destinations, such as Chiang Rai, Nan, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Chanthaburi, Rayong, Trat, Ayutthaya, and Songkhla. January 2022 marks the fourth phase of reopening, with "13 border provinces to reopen under travel bubbles with neighboring countries".
