At Peacock Alley, you are spoiled with all the comforts and indulgences one would expect from iconic luxury hotel, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok. If you’ve already been to the plush lounge, you would be familiar with its elegant, sleek decor and airy space. Just as a reminder, we’re talking white marble walls, touches of bronze décor, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking views of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club.

But it’s the afternoon tea set that we’re here for, now given a tropical spin as Thailand jumps into the summer season. Created by the hotel’s newly appointed executive pastry chef, Andrea Noli, the new set features savory Thai-inspired bites and scrumptious sweet treats that bring out the natural character of locally found tropical fruits. Each piece included in this summer-inspired set has no artificial coloring or additives.

The savory assortment includes a wide selection of finger food such as fresh figs and creamy brie on crispy French bread, a tiny tiger prawn Caesar wrap, and lobster salad served in a homemade cone.

The pastries may be simple in beauty, but they are heavy on flavor. Those who like contrasting tastes will enjoy the sweet and zesty chocolate tart filled with coconut mousse and tangy passionfruit puree, the salty and sugary salted caramel macaron, and the tangy lemon meringue tartlet. Meanwhile sweet tooths who prefer richer, more intense flavors can bite into the dark chocolate crunch fudge, the New York cheesecake topped with strawberry glace, or—Chef Andrea’s favorite—the blueberry choux filled and topped with cream made from fresh blueberries.

Each set also comes with daily-made plain and flavored scones with strawberry preserves, lemon curd and clotted cream, and complimentary Japanese cloud cakes.

Afternoon tea won’t be what it is without tea. At Peacock Alley, no less than iconic French tea brand, Marriage Freres, is served. We recommend the Marco Polo, a blend of fruity and flowery black tea, Chinese fragrance and Tibetan flowers.

The afternoon tea set is priced at B2,100 including a choice of tea or coffee. For a fancier take, opt for the Billecart-Salmon Champagne pairing, which comes with two glasses of Champagne and is priced at B3,800 per set.
