UPDATE on September 1 at 13:00: We have contacted Central and received the information that the requirements for vaccination and COVID-19 test results (stated below) have now been dropped. Every shopping mall under the Central Group is now opened for visitors, but it will still require customers to wear a face mask, scan their temperature, and check in via the Thaichana app.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Ahead of the reopening of the shopping malls following the lockdown easing in Bangkok tomorrow (Sep 1), Central has announced a new set of compulsory guidelines regarding visits to any of its shopping malls.

In addition to seeking cooperation from visitors to check in on the Thaichana app upon arrival, Thailand's largest retail conglomerate also asks all patrons to present any of the following proof in order to enter the premises:

  • A vaccine certificate (both online via the MorProm application or paper forms are OK) indicating that at least one COVID-19 jab has been received
  • A negative ATK result taken not more than seven days before the visit
  • A negative RT-PCR test result taken not more than seven days before the visit
  • A medical proof that the visitor has recovered from COVID-19 at least three months before the visit
  • A risk evaluation on the Thai Save Thai application

The protocol will be adopted at all 21 Central Group's shopping centers located in the 'Dark Red' zone, including CentralWorld, Central Embassy, and Central Chidlom. As of now, other non-Central shopping centers, such as Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, Iconsiam, Emquartier, and Emporium do not require proof of vaccination nor negative test result from mallgoers.

To ensure the safety of mallgoers, CCSA has drafted a long list of safety guidelines, which include a thorough cleaning every 30 minutes, allowing only vaccinated employees to provide the services, and regular screening tests for the employees.

Showing proof of vaccination or negative test results before getting into certain indoor businesses is one of the new preventive measures practiced in many major cities around the world including New York City, San Francisco, and Hong Kong to curb the spread of coronavirus.
