It was announced that Phuket would start to impose complete restrictions for every individual who aspire to enter the province. The decision came after the number of COVID-infected cases in the area skyrocketed to 186 (as reported by Bangkok Biz News on April 18), resulting in the authorities' order to label Phuket as a red-zoned area.

What follows is a series of new rules for anyone who plans to visit Phuket. According to Thai PBS, the province will be using new restrictions—starting from April 21 to April 30—in order to screen the visitors. Below is the list of persons who are eligible to enter the province:

  • Those receiving two COVID-19 vaccines approved by Thailand's Food and Drug Administration at least 14 days before the entry
  • Those tested negative within 72 hours before the entry with a proof of certificate

In case of those who cannot complete the above requirements, they are obligated to get an Antigen Rapid Test at any station such as Phuket International Airport and Tha Chatchai Station. Thai nationals can get the test for free, whereas foreigners and expats have to pay B500 for the test, which takes 15 minutes.

After tested negative, they are allowed to enter the province. Otherwise, the infected will be automatically admitted to the nearest hospital for further treatment.

Also, everyone has to download the MorChana application and register via gophuget.com.

The restrictions are not in effect to the logistic workers who do not have to stay overnight in Phuket. For more information, please visit Official COVID-19 Information Center Phuket.
